★★★★★ DECEMBER 2020 REVIEW: What can I say? Games like those are supposed to come out every decade. But no game will ever - past, present, or future - reach the level of the bar that RDR 2 set. Truly the best game I have ever played in my life, and I have played a lot. FEBRUARY 2024 REVIEW: What can I say? This game needs no witnesses... It is a masterpiece that will never be given the attention it truly deserves. Hands down THE BEST video game ever made.

☆☆★★★ Does not add much over its predecessors. Not the greatest game to be honest, easily skippable. To be even more honest, I think FIFA is a game worth buying once every 5 years at this rate. Comparing FC24 to FIFA 19 shows how true this statement is.

That's a good question. I think it depends on what matters to you with RE, I guess? Personally, I started with the Remakes; both my wife and myself tried to play the old ones so many times over the years, but for some reason neither of us could get into it. I chalk it up mostly to tank controls, even though I'm fine with them now

Some people say you should start with the originals as that is technically is the 'original' story, but I didn't find that it mattered to me at all. We finished RE1 - RE4 remakes and loved all of them, and now we're kinda working our way backwards through the old titles. Kind of a weird trajectory, but it's super fun.

In short I think either option works, but I'd recommend starting with the Remakes. Hope that helps ^^

Haha I hear ya. I played SH2 when I was a kid and Pyramid Head solidified himself for years as the most terrifying game villain to me afterwards lol.

Oh for sure though, you should! I used to find the idea of trying RE a bit overwhelming because there felt like so much to get into, but it goes by so fast once you're in the mix. If you do decide to play them, I hope you enjoy them as much as I am!

Haha, I'm glad to be of service! I'm looking forward to seeing what you're playing too! I definitely get stuck on where to turn next if I'm not super into one particular thing lol. This year Resident Evil has totally taken over my brain though, so I've been quite lucky in having no shortage of things to check out!

That's awesome to hear about BG3, I've heard nothing but good things all round. I'll definitely try checking it out soon!

Late reply, sorry for that. Life got in the way.

So, Tears of the Kingdom...
No questions asked, it is a great Zelda game. It is a lot of fun, it allows you to play with its mechanics in incredibly creative ways of which I only ever scratched the surface. Ultrahand is the single most revolutionizing ability in the game and is worth experiencing. I liked the abilities in Breath of the Wild, but this is another level. I mean... the things the players came up with were crazy.

So, as a game, it is great.

As a sequel to Breath of the Wild is it also just as good, if we are talking gameplay. For all the reasons I said above.
If we are talking character progression, story, and overall quality... maybe it is a bit worse. Tears of the Kingdom has an incredible amount of content. But not all of it is of the same quality as the content in Breath of the Wild. And the story is... okay, but somehow, it is not round... there is something missing... as if... it was planned without a story, which was then added on top. Coincidentally, this is what happens with most Zeldas, but here it is incredibly noticeable..

Of course, these are all high level complaints. All in all, Tears of the Kingdom is great. Amazing soundtrack, great artistic vision, great visuals (for the HW it is on), fun activities to do, lots to explore, maybe too much even, and... hell, I am not even near , I am sure there is a lot I have not even seen yet.

If you like Zeldas, go for it. If you do not, play Breath of the Wild first, if you like that, this one is just as good. Otherwise, it won't convince you otherwise.

I've had several people tell me about the game and praising it over the years, (including my boss at work) and now I finally understand why. It really is that good. There's the internet criticism of the game being slowly paced, but after getting a feel for it myself I can say that it feels very deliberately like that in a good way. You get plenty of time to know and become attached to these characters, and the game just has so many layers to it. I love finishing a mission and seeing the new writings in Arthur's book, hearing more things from his perspective. I'm hooked on the story. And yeah, I fully expect some awful shit to happen to these characters, but I'll see when I get there lol. Does RDR2 have haptic feedback on PC? That's surprising. I'm actually not sure if it does on PS5, since I'm playing the PS4 version. (there is no PS5 upgrade) I've just been sticking with my DS4, since that's my preferred controller, anyways. I use my DualSense sparingly, since they're more prone to stick drift. My DS4 has served me well for close to a decade now. I probably will get myself a pink DualSense soon though, (the coolest-looking one) with that new FF7 Rebirth coming out. Maybe I can get a warranty with it.

It's unfortunate that remastered GTA trilogy turned out bad, 'cause I totally would have bought it otherwise. From what I understand, the mobile version was recently patched and is an improvement, so hopefully they apply that to the console versions as well. Not sure why they're so half-assed about it. More than anything, I'd love to see GTA4 and its expansions get a proper remaster, but now that seems even less likely to happen.

Hope you have a good day!

Thanks! Yeah, your color scheme is also great and fits the VC aesthetic very well.

Vice City has been great. I hope to put more time into that this week. I've suddenly been so caught up with Red Dead Redemption 2. Guess I'm on a bit of a Rockstar kick in general. I also just noticed you've been playing that yourself, haha. That game just has an insane level of detail, doesn't it? In a way, I'm kind of glad I've waited until now to finally play it.

Oh, fun is guaranteed with the amount of games anyone has access to, these days. It is crazy how games have become no longer a luxury product, but something readily available to everyone, in just over 40 years. Music took a lot longer for that.
Even though.... Radio was free very soon. But not on demand.

Yes, Assassin's Creed is one of those series I really should bite my teeth into. I only played the first one at it was good, but monotone after a while. I finished it and did not immediately feel like I should play the other ones. But maybe I should see this year as the year I take those on.

I also think, the original Call of Duty told the story they wanted to tell. I am unsure if I want to dig into the other Call of Duty games at some point or just leave them on the side. Some I find interesting (like CoD4, which you are playing). Others.. not really.

Thanks for the add! I'm terribly late, but I finally added you back. I had to clean out my multitap, 'cause it was getting full.

I already love the Vice City theme. I started a replay of that recently after beating GTA3 and been loving it. Revisiting this series has been a blast. I haven't played the classic ones since I was a kid, so it's been interesting haha.

Hope you're having a good day!

Hey! Happy New Year!

Well, yes, 10.000+ games sounds like an impossible quest. I have my own endless quest ahead of me, but I have a tenth of your games. And... I do not envy you at all!

Feel free to get inspiration from the games I have, play and rated 5 stars! I also recently posted some Top Tens, you can find them in my "About this Backlog" section. Also, feels free to recommend games you think I would like!

GTA VI was the reason I thought of Vice City Stories and then your theme was the drop that filled the barrel. Anyway, I think, if the controls are like they were in the original Vice City, I will be fine. I played the original Vice City on the PS2 first and then finished and beat the game on the PC. I think Vice City Stories only exists for the PS2 and PSP, so PS2 will be my console of choice. I just have to finish a couple of games from my NP list first, I do not like to have too many games going on in parallel.

Are you liking Call of Duty United Offensive? I found that game a bit... boring, and I felt like I added nothing new to the first Call of Duty. It was the last CoD game I ever played.

Hey, there, thanks for the add!
Satisfy my curiosity, how did you find my page and decided to add me?

By the way, I really like your theme! =)
I was just thinking yesterday if I should prioritize playing Vice City Stories early next year...
Have you played it?
