I'm glad you're enjoying FF4. You are right, the PSP version is the all-around best version to play. The SNES is the most timeless, but the PSP is the most refined and has all the content from the GBA version. I played through it like 3 times. Really wish 5 and 6 got the same treatment; instead we just got subpar mobile versions/ports... especially considering 4 was released on almost 10 different consoles with a few different face paints in between.

The PSP version is basically the American version of SNES FF4 known as "EasyType", but with a lot of polish and bug fixes. That's why it's really easy. I do wish you could select difficulty from the get-go or unlock more challenges on NG+, but the endgame/postgame will put up a fight. I may have game over'd twice?

The DS/Steam/Mobile(?) ports are more based off the Japanese release which was regarded to be extremely difficult. It adds a lot more complexity with the augment system, but I think it's executed rather poorly. I think I got up to the 3rd fiend and gave up because of the arbitrary grind. I remember having to keep a mage handy early on because mages were doing more damage than my melee fighters, and I'd have to grind to get money to rest/heal and then rinse and repeat. It was awful.

Maybe one day I'll get back into it when my backlog lessens and my patience increases, but you lucked out with the superior edition. Especially since it includes fanfaction -- err, The After Years.

The empty backlog is both a blessing and a curse! I used to have a blog and a blog post explaining how I managed to tackle it (it's gone now though :/). I've been clearing games for as long as I've been a gamer so it's not as impossible as it seems!

I see, I see. I like the way you described your gameplay. It definitely adds to that teamwork element. Everyone has their different roles and your alchemy thing in Starbound seems a lot more... practical(?) than Terraria. Personally I haven't done much alchemy yet so I can't say for sure, but I'm definitely looking forward to it!

Awh, yea, I know the feeling~ There's absolutely a narrative that I sort of don't abide by (general consensus of the mainstream, old, bitter Sonic fanbase is that Sonic Colors is where things started to get better), people only wanna give the daytime levels credit, but the nighttime levels had so much love put into them and has just... like, level designs that, I'd say, rival the first four Genesis titles (which, while I can acknowledge are well-put-together games, I more enjoy for their expert, subtle theming and their original purpose of imparting an environmentalist message—the games usually start out in lush, natural environments and end in one of Eggman's many technological/industrial nightmares)... so it's sad that nobody gives it credit for that... >u<

Oh yea, I've seen and heard from those kinds of Sonic fans all. My. Life. It's taken me years to unlearn all the weird stuff I picked up from hanging with them (uniformly disliking certain Sonic games, hivemind-thinking, feeling like I *need* to beat the Genesis titles in order to be a "real" Sonic fan, etc.)... x3 If and when you do give the Sonic series a whirl, play them how you want to play them, enjoy them your way. Thanks! And I see! ^-^ Apparently the 360/PS3 and Wii/PS2 versions of the game were developed by two different teams and so are different that way, I only own the Wii version and have just been able to rent the 360 version so I can only speak authoritatively on the Wii version. x3

Oh my gosh, Epiku (by the way, you seem nice, could we be friends? ^-^), don't. Get. Me. Started... on how much I loved the nighttime levels! :D Speaking only for the Wii version of the game, they are some of the most masterfully-designed and detail-rich levels in the Sonic franchise, I'm not even kidding. The controls take some getting used to, and they definitely could've stood to polish up Sonic's Werehog... playability, for lack of a better term (the same can be said for Sonic's regular hedgehog form), but they managed to get it up to a point where the levels make for a serviceable beat-'em up and a thoroughly enjoyable platformer/puzzle game. c:

This may just be me and/or the Wii version, I don't wanna sing this part of the game's praises and then have you eventually try out and get disappointed, so I'll just say your mileage may vary on it, hehe. x3
