You may know me from my writings at GameFAQs: guides, reviews, Top 10s, and other miscellanea. I also wrote for GamingSymmetry; I was known as Alice Kojiro there. You can also find me in the club:

Status:

- Games that have no end, but I've played enough to be satisfied with it. Since compilations will always list every game in them, any that I don't like enough to finish will have this status. The actual collection might also have this, if I think it's worth summarizing how good it is as a whole.

- Games I haven't even touched yet, or games I've only sampled, even if they don't end.

- Games that I've begun, even if they don't end.

- Games that have been beaten with at least one character, but not to my satisfaction; I'm not done here.

- Games that have been 100% completed with all characters where appropriate. All optional bosses have been destroyed. You get the idea. Higher difficulty levels are considered only if there's something in it for me; most of the time, stuff like artwork or music won't count. Achievements are meaningless and don't matter.

- Any game that's been beaten 100% and with some sort of
intentional additional challenge; 1CCs, no death runs, and no item runs don't count. Achievements are still meaningless and still don't matter.
Rom Hacks:
Rom hacks are filed under the original game, but with a (Hack) tag to denote that they're not official expansions. My mini-review assumes you've read the review for the original game, and thus details only what's new in the hack.
PC Games:
PC is my main platform, so anything DRM-free will be under PC, regardless of whether I got it at GOG or itch or wherever; the only store-specific labels I use are things (like Steam or Epic) that require the use of a launcher to install, uninstall, etc. If something looks cool, and you're curious about where I got it, you can try this:

Whether you're in a wonderful land or a nightmare, never stop dreaming...
That said, I hope the site remake will allow for good reviews for all the games I played and finished (or declared finished, in case of the endless ones). We should be really close to it. =)
Oh, flickering graphics suck, no doubt about that, no matter the genre.
I did not expect you comparing erotica games to comedy games. But hey, I like to be surprised.
Well, I guess the difficulty curve will settle at some point again. I guess many casual gamers of 10/15 years ago are serious gamers now, and they require a new challenge. The market was swarmed with casual gamers in the mid to late 2000s and the market changed accordingly. I guess we will see and inversion of this again, sometime soon.
The ebbs and flows of the industry, I guess...
Hmmm... I think the best D-pad is still the one on the GameCube controller; yes, it is terribly small, but I actually quite like it because you can easily hit all the directions you want, and it is quite precise. The PlayStation Dual Shock has a nice directional input cross as well, like you say, having single buttons helps, but when are you ever gonna need to press left AND right at the same time.
Either way, most X-Box D-Pads somehow really suck, no idea how Microsoft can get something like that wrong, but they do, every single time... the SNES and the N64 also have nice D-Pads, IMHO, even if the one on the N64 controller barely saw any use...
Anyway, I stand by my point, the controls of the Resident Evil games somehow contribute to the atmosphere (at least, they did it for me), how broken that may sound. =)
I understand perfectly that people disagree with me, and all Tank-Controlled Resident Evil get my "Broken Controls" Badge (see my review notes section in the games), but... they aid with the atmosphere. I guess you can call it a "the best thing my worst feature did for my game" kinda thing.
