Ugh, we played so shitty at the end of that game. Can't believe Gould missed twice. That loss pretty much took any outside chance we had at the playoffs. Can't decide between still rooting for wins or hoping for a good draft pick ...

The features of the Retron5 are pretty great, I love save states (I use them so that I can quicksave at any time, and not to progress in the game), I love seeing my games upscaled for my HDTV, I like being to use original controllers and cartridges and being able to use any controller for an system. I use a Power Base Converter with mine too, so it can play Master System. Game Boy games with Super Game Boy support can be played in GB, Super GB or GBC mode too, which is nice.

The main reason I bought mine was to play imports. Being able to play Japanese cartridges is nice, but being able to apply translation patches to play them in English is even better, and is my main incentive for buying.

I do dislike some elements - the controller it comes with is terrible, it seems to use a unique colour palette for NES games with no option to use the one they should use (the retron palette is a bit over saturated imo) and frankly, the build quality of the thing isn't great. It's not bad per se, but you should definitely be careful with it.

Out of curiosity, have you made it to the Cave of Wisdom yet?

Harbaugh makes the best gifs. Ugh, this Bears team blows. I'm just about over Jay at this point. We better tank for a good pick and get a LB because dear god our LB core is awful. At least we'll finally get a good pick unlike every season where we somehow end up 7-9 or 8-8. It just sucks being behind even the Vikings. Bah.

I think its a very underrated game. The encounter rate is a bit harsh indeed. You can learn a spell which wil allow you to go through dungeons without having to worry about encounters for a while. I forget what its called but i know Pyra learns it.

I think the levels do eventually balance out and you can get through things a bit easier.

That game is pretty grind heavy so be prepared for alot of that.

I found a trick for the later floors. Some of the enemies have rare items, and if you muddle them, sometimes they'll give them to you. I ended up getting a few extra bars of mythril from them which is good for getting awesome items. Remember that later on.

So, how far are you in SHining in the Darkness?

I can get over beat downs by really good teams. I usually just turn it off at the half or whatever and just wait for the next week, but getting beat by teams that you should beat like the Dolphins ... ugh, it drives me crazy. Hope you guys turn it around -- our season is pretty much done. Can't win 0 games at home halfway through the season and expect to make the playoffs. Not with the Packers and Lions in division. Bah. So many missed opportunities.

Oh yeah, Marshall is a complete beast. The day we got him from Miami for two 3rd round picks was one of the best moves the Bears have ever made. Like holy shit. The only WR even close to this we've ever had is Marty Booker. That's saying something. He's a matchup nightmare, that's for sure.

Man, we really snuck away with that one. I honestly couldn't think of any conditions where we would win that game, but Fuller came up huge in the 2nd half. And Marshall, of course. God, that guy is a beast. Sorry Kaep threw it away, but if it's any consolation we really needed that one.
