I haven't played BbS, but Square-Enix usually tries new things with sequel games, especially in KH, so that's probably why the other platformers weren't all too similar. That's one of the things I personally enjoy about their games. Besides, how good they are is subjective; not everyone is going to like them all. :B
I haven't been able to keep up with the series so much because lolpoor, but 358/2 Days broke my heart into a million tiny pieces. My only complaint was that the difficulty curve on some of the missions made me scared to even play them, so when I did, the controls on my DSi XL got all sweaty. xD To this day I'm not sure I'd be able to tackle super Leechgrave solo without sweating off three pants sizes.
