I am unsure if I ever cleared the factory. If I did, I got nowhere in the "weird" area with the Viking inflating. Will I beat it this time? It remains to be seen, but at least now that Blizzard is giving it away, there is no guilty conscience weighing me down. *floats like a majestic Olaf*

Actually had them in the first sector and decided to risk it, came out victorious I just got them again in sector 4 and this time I ignored them, can't keep pushing my luck. Have survived near death once on my last point of hull and most of my ship on fire, by opening all airlocks and interior doors except the medbay where my crew was cowering, survived, and got to repair my ship completely again. I doubt I'll get another lucky break this session, certainly not entitled to one again.

I'm sure the game's mechanics would scream Zelda at anybody else, but since I haven't actually *played* any of the 3D Zeldas, it may become the other way around with me when I finally get to trying out Ocarina of Time...

Uh let's see, I did this last year already. Can't find precise patch notes now, but it came from [Link] and was probably the Planescape: Torment Fix Pack by Platter. I know I tried it briefly after installing it and noticed that my very annoying scrolling bug was gone (scrolling stopped working entirely some ways into the game, had to access the map to restore it every few seconds because it'd quickly lock up again). My other issues was many freezes surrounding Ravel, which did not seem to be addressed precisely in the patch notes but the name came up in quite a few fixes, so fingers crossed. At any rate it told me to restart, so I'm doing that, and I hope this time I get to see the game through.

EDIT: dug up a chat log from around the time I downloaded these and found the line:
"I grabbed the two fix patches, the restoration mod, and while I was at it, the max HP on level up mod."

Easy remedy for the random battles - you can force a battle whenever you want, and when the counter for an area has run down to 0, no more random battles. Lets you do them when you're ready to fight/grind and not have your exploration interrupted by them every couple of steps.
