I felt the same way. That twist at the end of Episode 4 SHOCKED me.

Having a completely trusted figure and SCHOOL TEACHER at that be the big bad was unexpected.

It's one time I can truly say my heart was pounding from surprise.

If you go for the other option in the end:
Max rips up the picture and they drive away in a truck. It feels like they definitely spent more time on the "Sacrifice Chloe" ending. So much more beauty displayed there.
